There will be an online application on the NMJCA website, similar to the NMYC application. After submitting, the Job ChalleNGe admission staff will reach out to assist you with the next steps and required documents.
Job ChalleNGe is a flexible 20-week program. The length depends on the completion of the chosen career path.
There are currently five career pathways offered through NMJCA's partnership with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and UA Local 412, which is a union that covers territory in New Mexico and Texas. UA Local 412 teaches, trains, and places you in an apprenticeship with a contractor/employer. The training pathways are Plumbing, Pipefitting, HVAC, and Welding. Certifications through CNM include Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Automotive Service Fundamentals, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Nail Technician.
Yes, while on the JC facility site, you will be wearing the issued clothes/uniforms depending on the activity, such as PT, drill, etc. There will be uniforms and/or required footwear for specific career pathways. NMJCA will cover the cost for related expenses as they pertain to each career pathway.
After successfully completing acclimation and meeting the requirements to earn personal cell phone use, you will be permitted to use your cell phone.
Wake up, prepare for morning formation, breakfast/chow together, PT together, travel to classroom/training center or on-the-job training. Return to JCA, chow, evening formation, cleaning, studying, PT, preparations for the following day's work assignments, class, and eight core components work.
JCA has barracks; however, there are no bunk beds. There is increased privacy and space for each Associate. The Associate furniture separates the individual living spaces and includes a desk, a chair, a bed, a closet, and a storage area.
