The New Mexico Job ChalleNGe Academy (NMJCA) is a tuition-free, 20-week residential program that provides real-world job skills and industry-recognized certifications for graduates of the Youth ChalleNGe Academy. Designed to prepare you for life and career success, NMJCA offers hands-on training, mentorship, and a supportive community.
The NMJCA uses the Eight Core Components developed by the National Guard Bureau to instill the required life skills required to become a successful individual in today's society. Some of these skills include:
- Application Completion and Resume Writing
- Understanding of Workplace Benefits to include health insurance plans, overtime/leave basics, OSHA rules and regulations
- Social Capital
- Community Building and Outreach
- Resiliency, Conflict Resolution, and Effective Communication
- Voter Registration and Selective Service
- Healthy Living to include navigating health insurance processes, requirements for routing health screenings, nutrition, and substance abuse

At New Mexico Job ChalleNGe Academy, you’ll gain the tools, training, and support needed to build a successful future:
- 24-month post-residential phase that includes, at a minimum, monthly contact with our Case Manager to ensure Associates maintain success
- The ability to reach out to mentors in your field of work to discuss future growth and development
- Future NMJCA Alumni events where graduates can meet, discuss their experience, and grow their social capital list for future contact
